Here you go:

1. Menstrual cups are bell-shaped, flexible silicone or rubber cups that need to be inserted into the vagina while on your period.

2. They collect the menstrual blood instead of absorbing it like tampons or pads do.

3. Most cups are reusable though there are disposable varieties as well.

4. For women with a regular flow, menstrual cups can stay inside the body for up to 12 hours before they need to be emptied.

5. Since menstrual cups only collect the menstrual blood and don’t absorb it, chances of an infection and Toxic Shock Syndrome (TSS) are usually low.

6. Unlike tampons, which absorb vaginal fluids along with the blood and may hence disturb the delicate pH and bacterial balance in your vagina, menstrual cups only collect menstrual fluid keeping other vaginal fluids intact.

7. Since menstrual cups don’t need to be emptied frequently, you can sleep with it in.

8. Being reusable, menstrual cups are better for the environment and work out cheaper in the long run.

9. Menstrual cups are easy to take care of and can be reused after simple sterilization at home using boiling water.

10. With proper care and cleaning, a menstrual cup can last for up to 10 years.
